“I Was So Nervous”: Daniel Cormier Recalls ‘Crazy’ Interaction With Dana White After His Debut Fight Against Frank Mir

Daniel Cormier is undoubtedly a legend of the sport. The former double champion faced tough opponents back in the day but overcame many challenges as he achieved double champion status in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. These days the UFC legend is an important piece in the UFC commentary booth as he has been given the new role by Dana White despite being on the opposite ends of issues.

The UFC legend has recalled an interaction that he had with the UFC president after his first win in the UFC. Furthermore, ‘DC’ shares some insights about his first fight in the UFC against Frank Mir.

The former UFC double champion revealed that he was nervous before his first fight against Frank Mir inside the octagon. ‘DC’ added that he might have gotten octagon jitters.

Cormier said, “When I hit that curtain RC, it was so loud. and people talk about octagon jitters. People talk about ‘can you live up to what the UFC expects’.”

Furthermore, Cormier disclosed what he thought about the fight. The UFC commentator said, “I hugged Frank Mir for 15 minutes. I was so nervous RC. I didn’t want to lose so bad that I just crunched him a lot of the time and it was a really boring fight”.

Additionally, UFC President Dana White might also agree with ‘DC’ on this one.

The UFC commentator said that he previously worked with Fox during his debut with the UFC. Cormier added that he had an interaction with Dana White on UFC Tonight. He added that White was surprised to see Cormier on the show after his fight.

Cormier revealed, “And he walked up to me and he goes, ‘Oh! You’re hosting the big show already.’ Lastly, Cormier revealed that White concurred with his analysis of the fight. He said, “And then Dana goes, ‘Well he didn’t all he did was hug the guy for 15 minutes’ he’s like y’all got a host of the show. It was crazy man. Crazy!”.
