“I Would Call It Clickbait”- Colby Covington Makes Dustin Poirier ‘Hate’ MMA & UFC

UFC lightweight fighter Dustin Poirier has been in MMA for a long time. Having spent a large part of his adult life as a fighter, he has to have some love for the sport. However, he revealed the factors that make him hate the sport.

The former interim lightweight champion appeared in a media interaction at UFC 271. He talked about his rivalry with ‘Chaos’ and also discussed how things changed during their days at American Top Team.

While talking about Covington’s changing behavior, Poirier said, Yeah, people were confused, but people kind of saw the business side of things as well. And the way his trajectory was, you know. Now he is fighting for the belts.”

“And now people are talking about him when they weren’t before. It’s just the thing that makes me hate the sport, you know. The fakeness of things like that and I would call it clickbait.”

“But living that kind of life, you know, it’s just. It’s not the same thing that I fell in love with when I started fighting fifteen years ago. It’s a different thing now. You know, guys are making their way through the ranks a different way.”

All these factors between ‘Chaos’ and ‘The Diamond’ can materialize into a massive fight. However, Poirier has no interest in fighting his former teammate.

Dustin Poirier will never fight Colby Covington

Even though the former teammates share a bitter rivalry between them, ‘The Diamond’ doesn’t want to take the beef inside the octagon. In the same interview, the Louisiana native revealed the reason for it.

Poirier doesn’t want ‘Chaos’ to benefit financially from this fight. Hence, he will not fight the former welterweight title challenger inside the UFC cage. Given this, we might not see the rivals collide.

However, fans will soon see Poirier compete in the same division as Covington. The lightweight fighter, after his recent loss in the title fight, has expressed his interest in fighting the fan-favorite Nate Diaz in a 170 lbs bout.
