Conor McGregor is all set to return to the Octagon this July. The former two-division UFC champion will face the No.1 ranked fighter in the UFC lightweight division, Dustin Poirier.

‘Notorious’ has always been known for his antics outside the cage as much as his skill inside the cage. The fighter is never shy of words and always speaks his mind. McGregor never backs down from a feud, whether it is inside the octagon or outside.

Recently, McGregor took to Twitter and wrote about how he believes he will step into the Octagon and break a few faces. McGregor wrote, “I’ve got a big chip on my shoulder and I’m gonna break another few faces with it.”

McGregor has cleared his intentions with the tweet, and we are likely to see the fighter use more shoulder attacks this time around. McGregor has previously used shoulder strikes to great effect, most notably against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

The third fight between Conor McGregor and Poirier

‘Notorious’ and Poirier have a storied rivalry and have faced each other twice before. Their first fight took place at UFC 178 back in 2014, where McGregor won via TKO. For many years, people made speculations about whether a rematch between the fighters would ever happen.

Finally, at UFC 257 on January 24, 2021, the two fighters competed in a rematch. This time ‘The Diamond’ had the last laugh as he defeated McGregor via TKO.

Poirier left a potential title match for the UFC Lightweight belt to fight McGregor and finally settle his score with ‘Notorious’. Meanwhile, McGregor wants to prove that he is still amongst the best in the business and can go toe to toe with anyone.

Both the fighters are tremendously skilled and know each other’s tactics well. Thus, it would be interesting to see if McGregor uses his shoulder attacks more. The fight is all set to be an intriguing affair, and regardless of who wins, one thing is for sure- fans are sure to get entertained.
