Now, almost 3 years after his retirement, his cousin has given rise to a fan frenzy thanks to his recent revelations about his conversation with ‘The Eagle.’ How? Well, recounting his personal experiences with the UFC Hall-of-Famer, Usman Nurmagomedov has made some intriguing remarks about the possibility of his cousin’s comeback. So, what’s he saying?

Usman Nurmagomedov recently sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi. The most intriguing part of the conversation came when he was asked about Khabib Nurmagomedov’s potential return as a coach or cornerman. Around nine minutes into the interview, the 25-year-old Bellator star provided valuable insight into ‘The Eagle’s character, saying, 

“I know Khabib, and I know him like a brother, like a human who follows his word. If he says something, he follows [it]. [It] doesn’t matter if it’s bad for him or good for him. This man is like – this is like what I learned for my life now. He’s like an example for me – not only in the sport but in life too!”

The most significant part of Usman Nurmagomedov’s commentary is his profound belief in Khabib’s unwavering commitment to his word. He portrays Khabib as a man of integrity who follows through on his promises, regardless of whether they benefit or challenge him.

Taking his arguments a step ahead, he candidly declared what he thinks about the possibility of his legendary cousin’s comeback into the sport. The Bellator lightweight champ stated: “When I see, like – he tells something, he always follows his word. And I don’t think he’s gonna be coming back like a coach – corner or even he doesn’t come to watch fights in the arena…”

The 25-year-old Bellator star also provided a fascinating glimpse into Nurmagomedov’s coaching style and his personal experiences with the UFC Hall-of-Famer. In doing so, Usman Nurmagomedov made an intriguing comparison between his cousin and his current coach, Cain Velasquez.

Usman remarked, “Cain [Velasquez] is not like [the] hardest coach like Khabib. Khabib is harder.” When asked to elaborate, Usman explained that Khabib’s coaching intensity was unmatched. He described Khabib as someone who constantly pushes his fighters forward, never allowing them to relax during training sessions.

What’s more – he attributed ‘The Eagle’s coaching approach to his upbringing. The 25-year-old highlighted the Hall-of-Famer’s belief that everyone should train as relentlessly as he does. Usman Nurmagomedov also expressed his deep longing for Khabib’s presence in his training sessions and corners. He confessed, “I miss him a lot, to be honest. I text him every day, like – ‘Hey, when are you coming back?’ He tells me, ‘Hey, leave me alone!’ [laughs].”
