Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis first faced each other at the UFC 226 event on July 7, 2018. Everyone expected the fight to be one of the best of the night, but the fight turned out to be not so exciting.
Now after almost 2 years of the fight, UFC President Dana White has talked about a potential rematch between the two fighters. During an interview, White said, “At the end of the day, Derrick Lewis and Ngannou is the fight, that’s the fight to make right now. Derrick Lewis is a heavyweight, he’s been fighting heavyweight, he’s earned this shot, he’s got a win over him, it’s the fight to make.”

Even before Francis Ngannou had defeated Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight title, it was almost confirmed that the eventual winner of the fight will face Jon Jones. However, a deal between Jones and the UFC could not be made, and now White has made a match between Lewis and Ngannou.
Many fans and critics alike are not happy with the matchup as they expect the fight to be the same as last time. However, White believes otherwise.
“That fight didn’t do what everybody expected it to do, but you know it can’t go bad twice.”
Lewis and ‘The Predator’ are both incredible fighters. While many consider Ngannou to be one of the hardest punchers in the UFC, Lewis is no less of a threat.

The first fight between these two heavyweights might not have lived up to the fan’s expectations. But both Ngannou and Lewis are outstanding fighters. If they face one more time, it surely is going to be a different affair.
According to White, this fight is the one to make, so we can be sure that if all remains well, we can soon see ‘The Black Beast’ take on The Predator.
