‘It’s Mine Soon’- Conor McGregor Says He is Coming for Kamaru Usman’s Belt

Kamaru Usman recently defeated Jorge Masvidal and defended his UFC welterweight championship.’The Nigerian Nightmare’ faced Masvidal at the UFC 261 main event and knocked out ‘Gamebred’ in the second round of the fight.
This was Usman’s fourth title defense in a row, and it showed the world why he is considered one of the greatest fighters of all time. Fans and critics from all over the world took to social media to congratulate the champion. While almost everyone praised Usman for his victory, ‘The Notorious One’ took to Instagram to share his views on the fight.

McGregor wrote, “Usman even copying my shots now. Am I to fight this guy at some stage? I think so. Can’t be copying my words and my shots and not get a smack for it.”
With this, McGregor also posted a video of himself fighting against Poirier. However, the biggest surprise came from what McGregor had written next. “I like 170. It’s mine soon.”
With this post, McGregor has clarified his intentions, and it seems like the former UFC two divisional champion wants to compete for the Welterweight title. Whether McGregor is serious about moving up and fighting Usman, we do not know, but if he faces Usman someday, it will surely be a fight to remember.
What next for Conor McGregor and Kamaru Usman?
Usman has just defended his title against Masvidal, and it surely will be some time before the champ returns to the Octagon. Whenever Usman competes, a fight with Covington seems to be on the card. Covington is the No.1 ranked fighter in the welterweight division and it makes absolute sense for the two fighters to compete.

McGregor, on the other hand, is all set to face Dustin Poirier at the UFC 264 main-event. This fight will be the third in the much-storied rivalry of the two fighters. Currently, the score between the fighter is 1-1, with McGregor winning their clash at UFC 178 back in 2014 and Poirier coming back strong with his victory at UFC 257 earlier this year.

McGregor and Usman are two of the best fighters in the UFC and although a clash between the two seems highly unlikely, we as fans would still hope that it can become a reality one day.
