Joe Rogan’s Spotify Deal: After Completion of $200 Million Worth Contract, UFC Commentator Extends the Deal

Joe Rogan has announced that the Joe Rogan Experience podcast will continue on Spotify after he signed an extension with the streaming platform. JRE is the most popular podcast in the world, with around 1.9 million viewers per episode, according to Forbes.

With its long-form content and Rogan’s ability to have interesting conversations with guests from a variety of fields and backgrounds, the podcast is a global phenomenon at this point. Now, Rogan has revealed the future of his platform in a recent social media post.

A pioneer in the podcast space, Joe Rogan started the podcast in 2009 from his home and gradually grew to become one of the most popular channels on YouTube. The UFC commentator took his podcast off of YouTube and signed a three-year $200 million deal with Spotify in 2020.

And as his deal was set to expire by the end of 2023, there had been speculations around the podcast hosts’ next moves. Putting an end to the speculations, Rogan has announced that he has signed an extension with Spotify.

“I am very happy to announce that I will extend my partnership with Spotify, the largest podcast platform in the world. In addition to being available on Spotify, the show will soon be available on additional platforms like Apple, Amazon, and YouTube,” Rogan wrote on his Instagram account.

And while these are details of this deal as of now, there are hints that the deal is very different from the previous one. At least one important difference between the two deals is apparent based solely on his Instagram post.

JRE to be available on other platforms

In his announcement on Instagram, Rogan revealed that along with Spotify, his JRE podcast will be available on other platforms such as YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon. This means that JRE will no longer be an exclusive Spotify product with only short clips allowed on other platforms.

According to reports, Rogan’s new deal with Spotify is worth around $250 million. If this is the case, the deal is very favourable to Rogan. The stand-up comedian now has the ability to monetize his content on other platforms, opening up another, potentially very lucrative sources of revenue.
