In a recent podcast session with True Geordie, Usman details his psyche of fighting. Kamaru Usman said, “Psychologically when two guys mano a mano were exchanging punches. You exchanging punches with this man I want you to let me know that my punches are hurting you. That my punches are affecting you. My punches are doing something to you psychologically that you don’t wanna be in this fight anymore.”
Usman continues, ” And when you don’t back up and you don’t let me know that and you don’t show me that. So I hit you and you step forward into the fire even more. That is just disrespect to me and it lets me know that my punches don’t do enough to you to hurt you. Or to make you back down from me. So that’s just a mental superiority that I think I show these guys. Yes, everybody hits hard I understand that but I am willing to die.”
