Khamzat Chimaev has been yearning for a worthy opponent for an extended period. However, it was his recent back and forth with Kamaru Usman that has ignited a glimmer of hope for an impending showdown. The journey to reach this stage has not been without its fair share of hurdles and differences in opinion between the Chechen and Dana White.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Swede has managed to land yet another scathing remark on the UFC for dragging their feet in granting Covington a title shot. In particular, Chimaev has taken aim at the privilege he believes Colby Covington enjoys, which he feels has secured him the coveted title shot despite not fighting for a while.

Khamzat Chimaev taunts UFC for giving Colby Covington the title shot
Recently, Khamzat Chimaev took to his YouTube channel, posting a video where he delved into the developments surrounding his highly anticipated fight against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. In this candid discussion, he expressed his disappointment with Dana White & Co. for overlooking him for the title shot and granting it to Colby Covington instead; a fighter who has remained inactive for over a year.
Venting his frustration, the 29-year-old remarked, “When he wins his last fight, I don’t remember who he did win against…”

Clearly, Chimaev had little regard for Covington’s achievements, casting doubt on the legitimacy of his contender status. He continued to voice his disdain, stating, “He’s a nobody, he wins against nobody. Usman broke his chin, two times… He’s sh*t. And they give that chance for him because maybe he’s from USA. I’m from Sweden, I live in Dubai. So, maybe they don’t want to give that belt to me.”
Reports suggest that the long-awaited clash between Chimaev and Usman is set to take place at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. This battleground will witness two contrasting paths: Usman, coming off two consecutive losses to the reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, seeks redemption, while ‘Borz’ aims to enhance his impressive record of 12-0-0 by triumphing over the former welterweight champion.
