Khamzat Chimaev Believes UFC’s American Bias Behind Title Shot to USA-Born Colby Covington: “I’m From Sweden, Live in Dubai”

In particular, Chimaev has taken aim at the privilege he believes Colby Covington enjoys, which he feels has secured him the coveted title shot despite not fighting for a while.

Recently, Khamzat Chimaev took to his YouTube channel, posting a video where he delved into the developments surrounding his highly anticipated fight against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. In this candid discussion, he expressed his disappointment with Dana White & Co. for overlooking him for the title shot and granting it to Colby Covington instead; a fighter who has remained inactive for over a year.

Venting his frustration, the 29-year-old remarked, “When he wins his last fight, I don’t remember who he did win against…”

Clearly, Chimaev had little regard for Covington’s achievements, casting doubt on the legitimacy of his contender status. He continued to voice his disdain, stating, “He’s a nobody, he wins against nobody. Usman broke his chin, two times… He’s sh*t. And they give that chance for him because maybe he’s from USA. I’m from Sweden, I live in Dubai. So, maybe they don’t want to give that belt to me.”
