The former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway got back to winning ways with a stunning win over Calvin Kattar at UFC in January 2021.

‘Blessed’ returned to the octagon and took on Yair Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 42. The event took place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The bout generated a lot of hype considering both the fighters striking history.

Interestingly, the featherweight combatants lived up to the hype. And delivered an amazing performance inside the cage for the fight fans. At the end of the five-round gruesome battle, ‘Blessed’ emerged victorious via a unanimous decision.

With a win in this fight, ‘Blessed’ also eclipsed his own record in the UFC. He became the first UFC fighter to land a total of 3000 significant strikes in his UFC career, according to ESPN. Previous 2,848 significant strikes record was also under Holloway’s belt.

Furthermore, the former champion became the only UFC fighter who has competed in 25 UFC fights and never got knocked out. All his losses in the promotion have come via a decision.

‘Blessed’ dominated most of the rounds and took down Rodriguez three times, which is the most in his UFC career. With this win, Holloway has surely cemented his position in the division and would excite the fans to see him fight for the title.

‘Blessed’ is one of the most prominent names in the UFC. He has an impressive 23-6 professional fighting record under his name. The 29-year-old regained his UFC featherweight gold by defeating Frankie Edgar at UFC 240.

Unfortunately, Holloway was dethroned by the current champion Alexander Volkanovski, at UFC 245. He faced the champion in a title rematch at UFC 251 and unfortunately lost again. However, many believe it was a controversial decision and believed Holloway won the title.
