The last numbered event of the year 2022, UFC 282: Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev, took place on Dec 10 in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Notably, featuring one title fight, the Saturday night event provided fighters a path to glory and a rise in the rankings. However, the prelim card’s opening middleweight fight involving Chris Curtis and Joaquin Buckley attracted the attention of the fans, which ended with a vicious KO.

Notably, both fighters engaged in a back-and-forth fight where the #15 ranked fighter scored a victory via KO in round 2.

How did the fans and MMA fighters react to Chris Curtis’s KO win?

The MMA fans and the fighters were left awestruck by the UFC star’s KO win from behind.

UFC veteran Derek Brunson, who is quite active on Twitter, commented, “Mma is one cold MFer . You can be doing everything right , then bam 💥 😂😂😂 #UFC282”

Another UFC fighter, Jamahal Hill wrote, “Damn that’s the game one mistake and it a rap good fight my g!!!”

What happened in the fight at UFC 282?

Both the fighters remained cautious of each other and Curtis started with a jab and legs combo and, as usual, relied on his counterattack skills. But the opponent, a wild fighter, put the pressure initially as pushed forward with leg kicks, and punches combo. But ‘Action-Man’
caught the opponent lacking and landed a clean, powerful left punch in the first round. However, the 28-year-old fighter became a victim of a low blow in the same round.

After the brief break, the 15-5 record holder mixed his approach. But Curtis remained unfazed and faced the full blunt of Buckley’s punches. Therefore, the first round was the perfect example of the 35-year-old fighter’s noted skills, tight defense, and dangerous counterattack skills.

The 29-9 record holder picked pace in the second round, but ‘New Mansa’ further the pressure on the peddle. Therefore, Buckley threw high voluminous punches and remained higher on output. Significantly, Finney’s HIT Squad team representative troubled Curtis with his combo punches.

But ultimately Curtis’s counterattack skills discarded the voluminous approach as he caught Buckley’s left kick and threw a left hammer punch, which sealed the fight for him.

Notably, before the post-interview, the fans could hear the UFC veteran shout, “They said I’m old. They say I’m old.”
