‘Octagon Is My Home’ – Glover Teixeira Not Worried About an Year Off From UFC

MMA legend Glover Teixeira is all set to compete in his 40th professional fight this October. Teixeira is all set to return to action at UFC 267 and challenge Jan Blachowicz for the UFC title. Recently, Teixeira appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and talked about his upcoming fight.
Helwani asked Teixeira whether he is getting anxious as he has not competed for almost a year. Teixeira was quick and confident in his reply and talked about how he enjoys time off now.

He said, “I enjoy my time off now. I have a 40 fight so isn’t something like I need to be fighting so I can like have the ball rolling. So I was like training, relaxing enjoy the time off and now I’m back in camp. I helped a couple of guys ready, so I was in the gym the whole time, you know.”
Earlier, Blachowicz and Teixeira would have competed on September 25th at the UFC 266 event. However, the fight was later moved to October 30, 2021, at UFC 267. This, however, does not affect Teixeira at all as the fighter believes the Octagon is his home and he is very comfortable in there.

Teixeira said, “Like I say, I have come to this point one year or you know; it doesn’t make a difference, anymore you know. The fight game it happened before and I feel nothing you know. I feel good going there. Octagon is my home, I feel very comfortable there no matter what.”

While staying away from the UFC does not affect Teixeira now, it certainly did during the early days of his career. He said, “I think at the beginning of my career if I had not fought for a year, it would probably like mess me up a little but not know.”

While Teixeira is returning to action after almost a year, the fighter has been in great form as he is undefeated in his last 5 UFC fights.
In his last fight, the MMA veteran had faced and defeated Thiago Santos via a 3rd round submission. Therefore, the fighter would look t continue his winning momentum and claim the title.

On the other hand, Blachowicz is also running hot on a 5 fight win streak. In his last fight, Blachowicz defeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision.
