Can Jon Jones capture the heavyweight championship?
After defending his heavyweight belt against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones announced he’d be moving up to heavyweight in search of improved challenges.
Since then, the Rochester native has been making all the adjustments in his diet and training. He hopes to make the smoothest transition to the heavier weight class. For almost a year now, Jones has been vocal about wanting to fight the reigning heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou. However, with the UFC and Jones’ management disagreeing on the right price for him to fight, the 34-year-old remains on the sidelines. If Jones and the UFC sort out their issues soon enough, we might witness him doing some of his best work at heavyweight.
There are several big fights for Jon Jones at heavyweight with fighters like Francis Ngannou, Stipe Miocic, Ciryl Gane, and Derrick Lewis. And although he might not have the size and reach advantage anymore, Jones will most likely put his exceptional wrestling abilities to use against his opponents.
