The sport of fighting or wrestling can get personal sometimes. An embarrassing or unexpected loss can turn sour, leading the loser to sometimes act out of recklessness. All the fans have witnessed combat sports athletes not being able to gracefully accept defeat, which is just part of the game.

But in some rare cases, things can take an ugly turn. Participants can lose their sense of sportsmanship and hit their opponent with an illegal strike just out of frustration. One such infamous incident took place in 2001 when boxer James Butler sucker punched his opponent after losing the fight.

Recently, fight fans on Instagram witnessed a similar incident. However, this one was more shocking. Why? Because it took place in a middle school wrestling match.

Recently, UFC veteran Sam Alvey posted a video of a middle school wrestling match gone wrong. According to NYPost, the video shows the scenes of the 2023 Beat the Streets Developmental FS tournament. The tournament took place in Oak Park, Illinois. It was a third-place 125-128 pound match between eighth graders.

The match ended with a 14-2 score when the winner of the fight offered the loser a handshake. Instead, the youth on the losing side hit him with a punch. This sent the receiver onto the mat. Netizens have been furious about this video. Even Alvey condemned the actions and wrote – “Should have his hand cut off“.
