Stephen Thompson Challenges Conor McGregor to Redeem His Own 11 Years Old Failure
The return of UFC legend Conor McGregor to the octagon is eagerly anticipated by the entire UFC fan base. However, recently, McGregor‘s social media posts let his followers know that he’s ready for a new challenge. ‘The Notorious’ announced through his Instagram post that he is going to coach in the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter. McGregor admits that he sees it as an additional adventure. Moreover, he shared a picture of himself from 2015 at TUF.
He frankly conveyed his thoughts regarding the next step underneath the photograph. Later, a piece of news was posted on ESPN MMA’s Instagram account that ‘Wonderboy,’ Stephen Thompson, left a comment under the post, much to the astonishment of the netizens.

In the Instagram post, McGregor wrote “With a big black eye and a gash, my tricolor, and my new and first ever ufc gold belt, I waltzed into the notorious fight gym in Las Vegas.” He further added, “The slickest suits and shouts the show had ever seen before. On top of the silverware. And coached my team to victory. Crazy. Some journey.”
The former double division champ then broke the special news to his fans and the world. He wrote, “I have just been offered to coach this role again. I like it. It is full immersion which is needed. I see fighters lining up. I know what’s ahead I been ready moth******s. #StayReady.”

In the Instagram post, the Irishman gave a detailed account of how he ended up in the TUF in 2015 as a coach. His team’s victory elated him. McGregor has been away from the fighting game for a long time. However, now he seems excited to take on the new role of a coach on TUF in the coming season.

As a reply to the new announcement from the star, Thompson wrote, “Most people don’t know I tried out for TUF before I made my debut. They ended up not taking my weight class. Would be amazing to coach against Conor. Always hoped I’d be able to share the octagon with a legend like him.’’ ‘Wonderboy’ also explained why he was unable to participate in The Ultimate Fighter in his reply. Nevertheless, now that he is a coach in the program, he is finally out there. He will get the opportunity to coach against Conor McGregor, the UFC legend.

Thompson started his UFC journey with his debut fight against Daniel Stittgen at UFC 143 in 2012. ‘Wonderboy’ won the fight after he knocked out his opponent. Thompson has said on numerous occasions that coaching against his UFC competitors in The Ultimate Fighter would be entertaining. However, he wasn’t expecting to be coaching against ‘The Notorious’.
Furthermore, after Thompson‘s victory against Kevin Holland in December 2022, the welterweight wanted McGregor to come back to the octagon to fight him next. Nonetheless, at this point, it is understood that the two won’t face each other in the octagon of UFC but as coaches in TUF.
