The incident of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on the Oscar stage continues to receive heat. The Joe Rogan Experience podcast in episode #1799 with Yannis Pappas divulged its effects. The host was clearly not a fan of the ‘irrational‘ behavior of the Oscar winner that night.

Smith had taken offense to a joke on Jada Smith, who rolled her eyes unamused when Chris Rock poked fun at her baldness saying she would star in the next G.I. Jane movie. Jada Pinkett Smitt had been diagnosed with alopecia, which is a disease that attacks the immune system and causes hair loss.

Joe Rogan condemned the act, calling it ‘violence’

The podcaster criticized the occasion by stating, “You can’t let people just go around slapping other people“. On the doubt some people had of whether it constituted violence, he said, “Whether you think it’s violence or not, it’s violence“. Yannis, the guest of this episode added, “It was violence that happened on TV“.

He continued to say, “What Will Smith did to Chris Rock, that is not a crime to do to your wife in Russia“.

When trying to find a reason behind the event, Rogan explained, “Sometimes human beings get pushed to the point where they do something irrational. And that’s what he did. He did something totally irrational.”

Joe Rogan said Will Smith faced light consequences for his actions

Rogan said that the 53-year-old actor probably knew that there wouldn’t be any consequences for his actions. Although Will Smith got away without legal action, many fans canceled him on social media. It was the talk of the town and everyone had chimed in with their opinions.

This led to a public apology on Instagram, where Smith apologized saying he reacted emotionally echoing Rogan’s word of being ‘irrational‘ that night.

Smith condemned the violence as unacceptable in all forms. He further apologized to the Academy and to all the attendees, calling himself ‘a work in progress’He later published a raw footage video apologizing to Chris Rock to recover from the public backlash he received.
