Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father has played a huge role in the success of his and Islam Makhachev’s career. He trained both his son and Makhachev to be outstanding fighters. It was his coaching that took them to the world’s biggest MMA promotion. ‘The Eagle’ fought his last bout in the promotion against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. During the octagon interview, ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement, as he did not want to continue in the sport after the death of his dear father. Moreover, he promised his mother that he wouldn’t fight again as his father was no more with him.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was a brilliant coach for Islam Makhachev. When Makhachev won his lightweight championship against Charles Oliveira at UFC 280, he thanked the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov and Khabib Nurmagomedov for their guidance. An old video of Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father wrestling has surfaced. In the video, both Makhachev and his coach came face-to-face to fight each other. Soon after the clash began, Makhachev went for a takedown. However, things changed within seconds as Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov easily escaped Makhachev’s attempt and took down Makhachev.

Soon, both of them got out of their positions and hugged each other. After coming across the video, Fans remembered the legendary coach and his renouned wrestling skills. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away on July 3, 2020, in Moscow, Russia, after complications due to the COVID-19 virus. When the video surfaced, the fans could not stop appreciating his wrestling skills.
