Alex Pereira is all set to defend his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill at the UFC 300. Needless to say, both fighters are eager to emerge victorious and etch their name in the annals of history. Regardless, it seems like the ghosts of the past are haunting the light heavyweight champion as Pereira’s ex-flame has come forward to expose his weakness.

Alex Pereira and Merle broke up last year, and since then, although Poatan has ignored any public revelations on the subject like a plague, Merle has not shied away. The journalist on her latest escapade has gone against her ex-lover to state that Jamahal Hill has a significant chance against the kickboxing legend.

Alex Pereira’s reign in the UFC has been a golden period for him. ‘Poatan’ only had seven fights under the promotion but in those seven fights, he has already been a middleweight as well as a light heavyweight champion. Many might argue that Alex Pereira is unstoppable but according to Merle, Pereira is as breakable as any other fighter.

In her latest breakdown of the UFC 300 fights, Merle through her YouTube handle “Fightology” shares her honest opinion about Pereria’s fight against Jamahal Hill. “Physically, I would say it’s Alex. So that’s a hard one because it’s like mental against physical, you know?”  said Merle.

She further added, “But, as Israel Adesanya said in his prediction as well, “there are things Alex [Pereira] never changed: his low hands.” He has a good eye, obviously, but his low hands… he’s not changing. He’s not changing his fighting style. And if Jamal Hill studied him well, like really well, I would say Jamal Hill wins by knockout because he will find, like, the leg in the defense.”

Her words might sound biased, but they have some weight considering that she was with Pereira for a long time and Adesanya’s assessments of fighters cannot be taken lightly. Interestingly, ‘Stylebender’ also thinks that Hill has the capacity to dethrone Pereira.

Israel Adesanya has been away from the Octagon but he has his eye on the UFC 300 as his arch-rival is taking on Jamahal Hill and seems like ‘Stylebender’ has already made his decision about the victor. In his latest YouTube video, Adesanya stated that Hill would stop Alex Pereira’s winning train.

“Jamahal I don’t think is scared. Scary knockout power, as well. Alex can get knocked out…avoiding the leg kicks is the tricky bit, and I know Jamahal has some remedies for that… Five rounds, going to be a slow start…Jamahal’s going to try to get his fist to Alex’s head, just like he did with Johnny Walker. I’m gonna go Jamahal by knockout, first two and a half [rounds].” said Adesanya.

Alex Pereira’s emergence in the MMA is like a story from rags to riches. From favelas to headlining the UFC 300, Pereira has accomplished a lot but now he has a tough challenge in front of him.
