There are many who feel that UFC star Conor McGregor is not the same fighter anymore. While at a point in his career, he dominated two divisions and became champ-champ, his last few fights tell a different story. He had been on the sidelines, recovering from a broken leg. But now, he seems pumped to get back. In a recent interview, Kamaru Usman spoke about McGregor.
In a conversation with Shannon Sharpe on ‘Club Shay Shay’, the welterweight champion said that Conor McGregor has lately not been that successful. Speaking about himself, he said that he still has the drive. However, Usman had certain things to say about McGregor.

Really pumped for my next fight title fight!

Usman said, “It’s a difference. But I think it also depends on the individual. … Some guys, that’s what they aspire to get. So that’s everything that they do, they do it for that. Then once they get it, it’s ‘oh, I got it’. … I think it was back in the day whether it’s Sugar Ray or maybe Hagler. They said ‘things is different when you start sleeping on silk sheets’. … When you’re sleeping on that now, you know, the hustle is not the same. And now, sleeping on silk sheets, I have to say, I still want, I still have that hustle. I still want to get up and go get it.”
“So I think it’s on the individual. So with him, I don’t know why he’s not that successful. … Maybe he got a lot of different things going on. He’s got his demons that he’s battling. … But I’m not here to kick a man while he’s down.”

The host and Usman then discussed how ‘The Notorious‘ never evolved throughout; how he could be defeated through wrestling. Giving an example of Ronda Rousey, Sharpe explained his point.
According to Usman, fighters need to be honest about their weak areas and work on them. He said one needs to make sure that one is good at everything. Now, with the Irish fighter planning a spectacular return, it would be interesting to see what new he brings to the octagon.
