UFC Recognises Cody Garbrandt’s Perfect Clean Slate With USADA

With just a few hours left for UFC’s last pay-per-view event of the year- UFC 269: Oliveira vs. Poirier, USADA has some good news for the former Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt.

As a participant in the UFC event tonight, Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt went through anti-doping procedures set up by USADA, an anti-doping agency. It was the 50th time that ‘No Love’ has taken the test and the fighter has come clean every time.

At present, Anti-doping agencies have convicted a lot of sports professionals for using illegal substances to enhance their performance.

The UFC took to social media to congratulate the superstar on this amazing feat. They posted a photo on their Instagram account, ‘No Love’ can be seen posing with a UFC official with a congratulatory T-shirt. UFC uploaded the photo with the caption, “Congratulations to @Cody_NoLove for his 50th clean test and perfect USADA testing history 👏.”

What is USADA?

USADA stands for United States Anti-Doping Agency, it’s a non-profit, independently managed agency that carries out a plethora of tests on professional athletes to check for doping and other vital metrics to adhere to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) codes.

Furthermore, the agency is completely autonomous and the United States government does not directly control it.

Chiefly, USADA works to implement fair competition policies in a variety of sports. Not only UFC, but USADA also regulates the drug test for the United States Olympic team.

Cody Garbrandt debuts in the Flyweight division

‘No Love’ is all set to make his debut in the Flyweight division. Currently aced by exceptional fighters such as Brandon Moreno and David Figueiredo.

Notably, the former Bantamweight champion made the switch after suffering four losses in his last five bouts. UFC currently ranks him #7 in the Bantamweight division.

Garbrandt (12-4) will lock horns with #6 of the Flyweight division- Kai Kara-France (22-9-0) on the main card for UFC 269. Meanwhile, France is coming out of a win against Rogerio Bontorin.

However, the match will be pretty interesting as fans get to see what ‘No Love’ offers in the lower division.
