UFC strawweight Tatiana Suarez is primed to make a return to the UFC’s octagon after nearly 2.5 long years. The undefeated prospect hasn’t seen action inside the octagon since UFC 238 back in June 2019 when she defeated Nina Nunes f.k.a Nina Ansaroff. Moreover, she’s never fought more than twice in a calendar year since debuting back in 2014.
Suarez recently posted a video to her Instagram that shows her journey through recovery from a knee injury. The Instagram post is captioned with the inspirational lyrics of rapper J Cole’s song ‘Change’ that she clearly derives meaning from. The video captures her journey through her rehabilitation and it serves to remind fans of the difficult times she’s been through.

Her career has been plagued with injuries that have been preventing her return on any occasion. In fact, she was primed to make a comeback at UFC 266 in September 2021, but she had to once again pull out. She was supposed to face Roxanne Modafferi in what would have been an ideal match-up for a comeback.

Does Tatiana Suarez fit into the strawweight division?
Due to her inactive stint, Tatiana Suarez isn’t in the rankings anymore. However, given her place in the division prior to her lay-off, she will certainly face a top-ranked opponent. Rose Namajunas is expected to face Carla Esparza next, and Suarez will have her eye firmly set on that particular match-up.

She has already beaten some notable contenders in her short 8-0 professional career including the likes of Esparza and Alexa Grasso. It all depends on what Suarez is targeting once she breaks out of her hiatus that has lasted well over 31 months.
