Recently the MMA world witnessed the retirement of Chan Sung Jung, better known as ‘The Korean Zombie’. As the world watched the Korean Featherweight’s last fight in the UFC, the atmosphere he set was electric. Sung Jung walked out to the iconic anthem by ‘The Cranberries’ called ‘Zombie’. His walkout had the whole crowd singing loudly along in a warm display of acknowledgment and love. Not only his fans but his rival Max Holloway also had some special insights to add regarding Jung’s final match, which even involved his family.

Jung’s final bout was one he could not win. Nevertheless, the ‘Zombie’ had one of the most entertaining and memorable careers in the UFC. Many fighters have taken to social media to express their sadness at the Featherweight’s departure. In a video uploaded to Instagram, Max Holloway, Sung Jung’s final opponent, shared a rather interesting story of what went down behind the scenes of the final walkout.

Holloway reveals what he and his team truly felt while The Korean Zombie was walking out
‘Blessed’ started the video with a declaration. He said, “I’m not going to even lie. I’m not gonna be a liar.” He quickly revealed what it was he was going to be honest about. He continued, “I was hating in the back. Me and the team was hating in the back.” Holloway elaborated on why the team and he shared this emotion on such a charged day.
He added, “We was like bro what is taking this man so long to get down there? I just wanted to get in there you know the emotion everything high and then.” Holloway’s emotions, however, did a quick 180 after he rewatched the walkout that he had missed.

He said, “After the fight, we got to watch the walkout and I was like wishing that I was a fan to enjoy that walkout. I’ve been telling everyone give this man his flowers while he’s here and not when it’s gone, not when he’s gone… And he got his flowers that night and uhh, you know, he deserved it.” Holloway also shared a funny incident from the day involving his family.

Holloway shared a funny incident from the day. He said, “A funny story, you know, my team, my section, my wife and my cousins and stuff, they was like, in the crowd and being like ‘Nope. We’re not singing this song. We’re not gonna do it.’ 30 seconds later gave in cause everybody was doing it, you know.” The result of the experience even carried over back home according to Holloway
The effect of the walkout didn’t end there, according to Holloway. He stated, “I ended up coming home, you know. I was, my gaming room is right next to my son’s bathroom. And I heard the man singing, ‘Zombie, Zombie’. He’s singing in the shower to it. It was amazing man. That guy deserved everything.” In the video, Holloway was all praise for ‘The Korean Zombie’.

It seems like the Korean fighter has gotten a wonderful send-off after an illustrious career; one that fans and fighters both agree was well deserved.
