Less than a week before its debut, UFC president Dana White’s Power Slap League is still struggling to win over fans. If the reactions to their promos are anything to go by, then the sport will have to do a lot of work to impress fight fans. White announced his brainchild all the way back in October after receiving the green light from NSAC. He provided further updates during a press conference in November, when he announced the show would air on TBS in January 2023.

During the press conference, Dana White guaranteed that athlete safety was a top priority. According to him, their involvement would guarantee athlete safety in the sport.

However, these promises and promos are yet to convince a lot of fans to take the league seriously. In fact, many of them are irate with the UFC promoting the sport through its own channels. One of the more recent promos posted on UFC’s Instagram page earned White a comparison with Vince McMahon as fans compared the Power Slap League to the XFL.

Fans had similar reactions to another promo posted on Twitter. Several of them stated their disapproval of the UFC associating itself with this venture.

UFC fans react to the latest Power Slap League promo

The UFC and the Power Slap League‘s official Twitter accounts recently posted a promo for the upcoming event. However, several fans raised an issue with the event being forcefully presented to fight fans.

One of them retorted by making a Will Smith joke referring to the actor’s Oscar fiasco.

Several people expected Smith to be associated with the new sport after his Oscar incident.

Some other fans had a more stern message.

One fan called the league the most basic form of combat sport and hoped for its failure.

Another fan had an interesting take. He said the league’s association with the UFC would make fight fans look bad to outsiders.

Another fan shared similar emotions, threatening to watch less UFC for their association with the Power Slap League.

One fan predicted the league would not succeed as it did not have the excitement and skill present in MMA.

Already on thin ice with the fan situation, White’s recent controversy about the altercation with his wife did not help the Power Slap League, either.
