To prepare for her next fight, Zhang Weili has shifted her camp to the U.S., and she has been training with the former two-division UFC champion, Henry Cejudo.
Weili will take on Rose Namajunas in the rematch from UFC 261 and try to reclaim the UFC women’s strawweight title. Weili lost the belt via knockout in the first round. The pair will meet again at UFC 268, and it is bound to be an exciting affair.
The Chinese fighter shifted her camp to America more than a month back and has been preparing for the fight with Henry Cejudo. She recently posted a video of herself working on her takedowns with the former champ. In the caption, she wrote, “A very full day. Thanks to all coaches. Learn a little and make a little progress every day谢谢 @henry_cejudo @cptamericas @eddie_cha You all belong to wrestling and love wrestling. I learn to wrestle and I fall in love with it.”

It is clear that ‘Magnum‘ is working on her grappling and ground game. Changing levels early in the fight and trying to take Namajunas down might be something that benefits her. And working with an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling is definitely going to help her a lot.

Henry Cejudo has nothing but been all praises for Weili since she joined the camp. The former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion called the Chinese fighter a ‘Ferrari’ and said that she has picked up on a lot of things very quickly. In an Instagram post, Cejudo said, “Lock your doors, hide your thugs and give us all the roses because Weili 2.0 is coming!”

Zhang Weili said that she wanted to train with Cejudo for a long time, but it got delayed due to the pandemic. She also said that the experience has been amazing, and his knowledge about the sport is helping her learn new techniques and details. According to her, “It’s been unbelievable. He has exceeded beyond my expectations. I’ve learned a lot of new things, more than I can express.”
