UFC recently announced that Robert Whittaker will match up against Israel Adesanya for the UFC 271 showdown. The fight will take place on the largest weekend of the American sporting calendar, clashing with NFL Super Bowl.

Adesanya is the current UFC Middleweight Champion. The two have already squared up before, back in 2019. In which, Robert lost his middleweight belt to ‘The Last Stylebender’. The rematch is the perfect opportunity for the 30-year-old Australian to redeem himself. This event is scheduled to go down in Houston, Texas on Sunday, February 13.

UFC confirmed this fight this Sunday. Additionally, after losing to Izzy, Whittaker went on a back-to-back three victory train, earning him a title shot. Consequently, Adesanya has defended his title thrice against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori.

However, after the UFC announced the rematch, Isreal seemed displeased. MMA junkie shared a tweet sharing UFC president Dana White’s reaction to the whole drama. Dana said, “You don’t want to fight Whittaker? OK. Guess we’ll find another fight. Who gives a s**t?”

“I definitely don’t give a s**t. We’ll find something else. Why will we lie? This fight is coming up. 20 f*****g years, did we ever lie about making a fight? Some fights are harder to make than others, but I don’t think we ever lied about making a fight.”

The official UFC Twitter shared that the rematch is on to which the 32-year-old Nigerian reacted with a blue “Cap” emoji. The emoji means you’re either lying or over-exaggerating your actions to meet someone else’s expectations.
