The Notorious One has been gunning for a rematch with Khabib since the Russian handed McGregor a loss back in 2018 at UFC 229. It seems like McGregor’s wishes might just come true.
“I know everybody is gonna go ‘isn’t he awesome’ but it’s true. I would have to say Conor (vs.) Khabib… Conor wants that rematch so bad. And I would love to see it,” in a recent Reddit AMA, Dana White admits that this is the fight he has been looking forward to, for quite some time.

The Dagestani fighter submitted McGregor in the fourth round while defending his title. Rumors about a rematch started floating around the MMA circuit ever since the Irishman tapped out.
However, Nurmagomedov has been very vocal about his disinterest in taking on the southpaw again. While McGregor has been seeking an opportunity for vindication.

While both White and McGregor may be eager to put this fight together, the UFC President has offered a shot at the title to the winner of Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje. This unification bout leaves McGregor out high and dry.
If everything goes according to plan, Khabib’s next opponent will be revealed at UFC 249 on May 9th at the VyState Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dana White Not So Confident About Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
The UFC has tried to book a fight between Ferguson and Khabib 5 times in total now. However, these fights could never materialize, with injuries and health issues plaguing either fighter on each occasion. As a result of which Dana White seems a little apprehensive about booking this battle for the 6th time.
“I’m afraid of what will happen next if we try to make that happen again,” said the UFC president during the same Reddit session. White admits that chances of putting together another edition of this highly elusive fight seem rather bleak.
