UFC light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira are primed to face-off in the main event for UFC Fight Night. The fight card takes place at the Apex Facility in Las Vegas on November 7, 2020, where the UFC will finish off the year. Furthermore, the main event is a consequential showdown that will likely determine the next divisional contender.

The 205-pound division finally has a new face in Jan Blachowicz after consensus GOAT Jon Jones relinquished the belt. Both Santos and Teixeira have fallen to Jones in title match-ups, and they will look forward to fighting a new face. Blachowicz is a problem for anyone in the division as he brings his patented ‘Polish power’ along with fight-ending kicking abilities.

Marreta’ Santos is an anomaly in the division as he has gone 1-1 against the last two UFC light heavyweight champions. The former middleweight has settled into the 205-pound division well, and he gave ‘Bones’ Jones noticeable problems in their last fight.

However, he sustained multiple ligament tears in his last outing that forced him into inactivity. MMA Pundits will be looking at the way a significant lay-off could affect the Brazilian fighter who pushed ‘Bones’ further than anyone else in the UFC.

Thiago Santos brings in destructive power and laser precision into the cage. This makes him a dangerous outing for anyone. His capoeira background can pose major problems for Glover, who relies on traditional boxing and somewhat telegraphed entries. However, Thiago’s explosiveness leads to breaks in his forward momentum that could be capitalized on.

Glover Teixeira is undergoing a career resurgence at 41. The 31-7 fighter is on a four-fight streak that includes several explosive fighters with similar styles to ‘Marreta’. What’s more, he’s finished three of his last four, which clearly shows he is as sharp as ever. Chiefly, fans have likened his recent resurgence to his 20-fight unbeaten run that lasted from 2006 to 2011.

Teixeira is a force on the ground, and he’s efficient with his offense. He will probably have better cardio as the fight enters the championship rounds due to his conservative output strategy. Furthermore, if he’s able to enter Santos’ range, he can keep the fight in the pocket.
