The Swimming World Cup 2023 has begun in full force and the athletes are reaching their level of success. There have been multiple performances that were a treat to the eyes but one performance that amassed a lot of attention on day 3 of the World Cup is of the Australian swimmer Kaylee Mckeown. This triple Olympic gold medalist holds multiple world records and has added one more to her list. After her performance in the women’s 100m backstroke, her name will be etched in the history books of swimming.

Her graceful yet powerful performance in the World Cup is something to gaze at. Doing absolute justice to her track record, Kaylee Mckeown dropped a World Cup record in her event.

Kaylee McKeown nailed the 100 m backstroke finals in a commendable 57.95. With her incredible speed, she made even the best competitors bite the dust. She went through the water like a bullet touching the finish line first at unbelievable timing. A podcast page on X shared an appreciation post for the Australian swimmer. They posted a picture of the results and the caption carried, “Kaylee McKeown comfortably wins in World Cup record.”

Following McKeown in the second position was Kylie Masse representing Canada with a time of 0.60, and in the third place was Ingrid Wilm with a time of 0.63. The Australian swimmer holds other records as well and with this new addition, she has proved her worth. Even the 2023 Aquatics world championship saw her majestic performance and creating another record surpassing herself in the 100 backstroke.

Australian swimmer’s achievements till today

From her initial days to the current course of time, Kaylee McKeown has made sure to secure some of the best victories to her name. On day 3 of the Swimming World Cup 2023, she made a record by surpassing the eight-year-old World Cup standard set by another Australian swimmer, Emily Seebohm, with a time of 58.34 in 2015.

Mckeown also took down her own meet record by winning her first 100 backstroke world title in the 2023 Aquatics Championship with a time of 57.53. She defeated Regan Smith in this competition and since then has just been rising higher.

With this, she also attained the World Cup record in the 50 back on the 6th of October 2023. Her winning time here was a beautiful 27.24. She was very happy with what she had achieved as she had been training for just a few weeks. Mckeown who became the first athlete to sweep the 50, 100, and 200 back events at Worlds this year said, “Every season is a clean slate, and I am proud of those medals, but they are not key to the things that I want to do in the future.” Achieving something this great with such grace is a rare sight and the swimming world cannot wait to look at more beautiful performances like this.
