However, recently Usain Bolt has revealed that he likes to stay away from social media and believes it is toxic and really affects the mind of an athlete.

Usain Bolt recently said in an interview that social media really had a bad effect on his career and that now he prefers to stay away from it.
When he was younger, Bolt’s only goal was to make his country proud and give his best. Whenever he was getting injured, social media would take a toll on his mental health.

People would comment things like his career was over and he was not going to make it. All this negativity really took a toll on Bolt’s health.
“I was doing well but the transition to professional, it kind of broke up because I started getting injured … then online and people would see you and say, ‘Oh, you’re not going to make it anymore. You’re done. That’s it.’” Bolt said.
Whenever athletes get injured, people take no time to say things like that they will not be able to get up again. It’s obvious how these comments can really demotivate the athlete.

He also makes it a point to stay from articles, because they really affect the mental health of the sportsperson.
“I just stay away from social media — I stay away from all the articles. You’ll hear stuff here and there, but I try to stay away as much as possible,” said Usain Bolt.

Even though Bolt is loved by fans worldwide, he stays away from social media, making it a point to maintain a balance between his personal life and the one which his fans know about.
