Over the years, first baseman Freddie Freeman grew from being a regular feature at the Atlanta Braves to the face of the franchise. After a decade of trying, the 32-year-old finally got his hands on the coveted World Series title this year, when the Braves beat the Houston Astros in six games earlier this month.
However, the victory turned bittersweet for Freeman. While he added a World Series title to his honors, he also became a free agent for the first time since joining the Braves. Although he remains confident of re-signing, reports reveal he rejected the Braves’ first offer.

In 2014, Freeman signed a massive eight-year, $135million extension following his first four seasons with the Braves. During that period, the 32-year-old produced stellar performances at the plate, recording regular runs and stacking up individual honors.
During his final regular season under contract, Freeman scored his career-best 120 runs and recorded 83 RBI. In addition, 31 of his 120 runs were home runs, showing the asset he was to the Braves.

Although he recently stated his heart lied with the Braves, contract negotiations with him suffered a recent roadblock. Reports reveal Freeman rejected the Braves’ initial attempt at re-signing him, which was valued at $135million for five years.
