Ever since free agency has reopened in MLB, baseball finally seems to get its life back after the hectic lockout. Talking about free agency, one of the top free agents Freddie Freeman is yet to join sign his contract with any team.

Considering his skills and experience in MLB, any team would want Freeman by their side. However, it appears like Freeman’s former franchise, the Atlanta Braves, has almost found his replacement for the first base for their roster. 

Though the Braves have signed first baseman Matt Olson, probably as a replacement of Freeman, the Braves’ GM Alex Anthopoulos become emotional after talking about Freddie Freeman.

For the Atlanta Braves, Freddie Freeman was more like a symbol than a player. After making his MLB debut, Freeman has never played for any other franchise of Major League Baseball. And after losing such a player, it must be emotional for the well-wishers of the Braves.

Earlier on Monday, when the Braves signed Matt Olson from the Oakland Athletics, it became crystal clear that Freeman won’t be coming to the Braves anymore. Because Olson plays at the same position as Freeman played for the Braves. And keeping them both will not be a possibility for the Braves.

After completing the Olson deal, when a reporter asked about Freeman to the Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos, he couldn’t control his emotions. Anthopoulos was literally crying when talking about moving on from Freeman.

While playing for the Atlanta Braves, Freddie Freeman helped them win the World Series in the 2021 season. He has played an instrumental role in the Braves’ success in the last few years in MLB.

While one of Freeman’s former teammates, Dansby Swanson said that the Braves should retire Freeman’s iconic number 5. Swanson expressed, “Easiest thing to say is, number 5 should never be worn again.”

However, Freddie Freeman has not signed a contract with any team. But as per the reports, the LA Dodgers and New York Yankees are favorites to sign him.
