Because of the lockout, no team can trade or negotiate with any players, including free agents. There are still approx 141 free agents who are yet to join any team. And the teams are waiting for the lockout to end as soon as possible. So they can add or trade some players to make their side even stronger.

New York Mets are one of the MLB teams who are going through a rough patch. Their management is looking to rebuild the team with some bold changes in the squad. Just before the lockout, the Mets had signed free agent Max Scherzer to a three-year deal for a huge $130 million.

Before signing with the Mets, the 37-year-old pitcher was playing for the Washington Nationals.
