The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 have finally come to an end, and for Mikaela Shiffrin, they could certainly have gone better. Shiffrin had elected to stay for a sixth event at these Olympics, a record-tying amount of events at a single Olympics.
However, from the very start, she was unable to medal in any individual or team event. Her string of unfortunate luck continued on the final day as Team Norway edged out Team USA for the bronze medal.

“My teammates are what carried me through this Olympics. And today, I have to emphasize, I don’t think I can emphasize it enough how unbelievable it is for us to be here and be in the hunt for a medal. I get that people will say we came up short, but the thing is that to have this depth on our team, coming from the US, competing in a European-dominated sport.”
Mikaela’s teammates gave everybody strength and hope
As Mikaela Shiffrin addressed her teammates today and expressed how they carried her through the Olympics, she also appreciated one teammate in particular.
Shiffrin addressed 24-year-old River Radamus directly. She said, “River, we were watching you at the bottom there and the fact that you were skiing so strongly... That’s the biggest win you could ever give us.”
