12-Year-Old Boy Who Won Mini Mr. Olympia in 2014 Is Now Studying Prototyping and Writing Codes

Bodybuilding is not just an adult sport. In the last decade, it exists for children as well. Children around the world also perform mini-bodybuilding. IFBB also recognizes children’s bodybuilding and has been actively organizing such events. One of its most successful Mini Mr. Olympia, in 2014 was won by a 12-year-old boy named Vince Poppleton. He dominated the championship with utter strength and grace. Growing up, Vince diverted his interest and moved toward academics.

During his bodybuilding days, Vince showed great courage and vigor to win the championship. He spent an ample number of hours at the gym working out with adults. Poppleton’s commitment to remaining consistent with his bodybuilding regime was frowned upon by many.

What is Vince Poppleton doing now?

12-year-old Mini Mr. Olympia is now all grown up and doing perfectly well. According to his LinkedIn profile, Vince is currently a mechanical engineering student at Grand Canyon University. Seemingly, he is focusing on creating a career in academics. His profile also mentions that he has studied prototyping and mechanical design. Moreover, he also possesses an associate-level certification in mechanical design through SolidWorks (CSWA).

He has also picked up more fundamental skills, such as programming (MATLAB and C++), soldering, and machining. The former child bodybuilder also has an interest in golf.

Vince has worked at the Omaha Country Club in its golf course maintenance for two summers.
According to his social media profile, Vince appears to be a fun and outgoing boy. He likes skiing, surfing, and hiking in the magnificent Colorado landscape.

Throwback to Vince Poppleton’s bodybuilding days

Omaha, Nebraska native Vince Poppleton, won Mini Mr. Olympia in the Natural Bodybuilding Competition held in California. The championship was a movement to encourage bodybuilders to practice the sport without any drug enhancement.
The 12-year-old boy received great encouragement from his parents, especially from his father, who kept his motivation in check. After winning the competition, he told KETV in an interview:

“I like the feeling of being on stage, like that adrenaline rush and how I look.”

He further added, “I want to look as muscular as possible. I was just eating chicken and asparagus because that’s what bodybuilders do.”

Inevitably, the boy had to monitor his diet as well, besides training. He commented in the interview that although the diet was helpful; it was not realistic to follow.
