The bodybuilding world sustains a range of interesting stories of athletes. Similarly, one such story brings into light, Ray Houghton’s one-of-a-kind feat to cover up every inch of his body with tattoos. Recently, an article by New York Post revealed that the Manchester-native derived his love for tattoos while serving in the army and spent a fortune to get himself inked.

Shockingly, he didn’t spare his private parts as well. Even though his usual artist denied to support his stunt, he eventually found somebody else to do it. Moreover, the athlete did so to escape from the inevitable phenomenon of life, aging. Here’s what he said. 

Ray Houghton got the masterstroke

Throughout his life, the 65-year-old former bodybuilder left no stone unturned to get himself tattooed everywhere. According to the New York Post, the expenditures summed up to $10,000. On Christmas Eve in 2018, Houghton decided to get his nether regions tatted. “I don’t feel the pain anymore but the tattooist couldn’t believe I wanted to get such a sensitive area done,” he disclosed. Interestingly, Houghton was “desperate” to veil his aging skin. Thus, he said, “I didn’t like to look in the mirror and see my aging skin. I like to look young. I hated seeing varicose veins and wrinkles. It’s horrible.”

Furthermore, he admitted that it seemed like a whole deal, but eventually, “It made a lot of sense. It worked out perfect really.” Hence, he grew popular on social media over time, mostly among men. “Everyone loves the designs. When I go walking with my dog people stop me and want autographs, it’s unbelievable,” the athlete claimed. His tatted pictures were leaked on the internet. Therefore, he doesn’t shy away from sending them to followers when asked. Indeed delighted over the sudden attention, Houghton reflected, “How many people get stopped at my age to ask have a photo with them? Probably not very many.”

After years of serving in the Royal Artillery, he moved to Spain and owns a gym. Moreover, Houghton’s shredded physique earned him a title at the 1989 North West coast Bodybuilding Championship. Presently, the army veteran enjoys his time signing autographs and clicking pictures with people.
