As the name itself denotes that the result of a failed attempt at bench press in suicide grip can be fatal. The difference is all about the thumb grip in the normal grip and the suicide grip.

Pro bodybuilder needs a high-intensity workout to reach their desired goal. Similarly, Arnold had a vigorous workout regimen. He used to work out six days a week and take a day off. Moreover, he trained two muscle groups in one day and made sure he trains them well. In addition, with strong workouts, a sufficient diet is also needed, which he took from plenty of food and a rich nutrient diet.
Without a good diet, there is no meaning to any hard workout. He repeated the muscle group twice a week. Although his favorite parts to train were his chest and arms but he never skipped any other muscle group.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a very disciplined and target-oriented athlete. Even now, at the age of 75, he presents himself with various challenges and works with discipline towards them to attain them. If talking about the grip, yes, it is life-threatening and is not at all advisable to anyone. But his precision and grip over his skills made it easier and safer for him.
