The iconic ‘Rocky’ film franchise, gave a completely new definition of fitness to many bodybuilding icons. With his chiseled abs and meticulous persona, Sylvester Stallone would offer a peek into his workout regime through various sequences in the film. However, since his fandom was oblivious to the eating habits he used to follow behind the scenes, Stallone once shared his diet plan with them. Interestingly, Sly’s eating habits drew similarities with that of his former rival Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In the year 1976, while Stallone was winning hearts with his leading role as Rocky Balboa, Schwarzenegger had just started his Hollywood career with ‘Stay Hungry’. Moreover, both actors made a significant mark in the industry through their muscular physiques. While their rivalry often took the front seat, fans were curious about the elements behind their well-built persona.

In a YouTube video featuring an interview from his Rocky Balboa days, Stallone revealed the eating pattern that he followed while preparing for the titular character. Sly stated, “I would eat 1 protein meal in the morning”. The Rambo actor coupled his breakfast with a “cup of oatmeal” and “5 soft-boiled eggs without the yolk”.

On the other hand, Schwarzeneggerate three scrambled eggs, one cup of cooked oatmeal, one cup of orange juice, and one cup of low-fat milk”. Now, the first and foremost requisite of building a healthy and robust body is protein. Therefore, the 7x Mr. Olympia included “25g milk protein, 25g egg protein” in his post-workout drink. Whereas, Sly used to quench his daily requirement for protein through 2 glasses of protein shakes.

During his prime, Schwarzenegger followed a strict weekly workout regimen. He chose Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for chest, back, calves, abs, and forearms. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday the bodybuilder trained for biceps, triceps, and shoulders. However, he kept Sundays for complete rest.

On the other hand, Stallone also had an astonishing workout regime to get in the shape demanded by Rocky’s script. Just like Arnie, Sly also trained for chest, back, abs, and arms on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Whereas, Rambo kept Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for Calves, Thighs, and Abdominals. Naturally, Sundays were the champion’s rest days. The actors indeed had a kindred dietary and workout routine.
