Hollywood Megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger does not need to be formally introduced. A man of many shades, 75-year-old Mr. Olympia champion perfectly perfected multiple roles. Five times Mr. Universe title holder, Arnie enjoys a massive fan following. Though to reach the successes that he now enjoys was never easy. Having had to undergo several professional downs, the ace bodybuilder also had to struggle with ill health.
Born with a cognitive heart defect called aortic stenosis, his struggle with health was lifelong. Coupled with bad cholesterol, Arnie puts in a lot of effort to ensure that he stays fit. Thus, making conscious lifestyle changes made Arnold feel “healthier and younger overall.”

Arnold chose to stay healthy
There was a time when Arnold Schwarzenegger used to have 10-15 eggs daily and a lot of meat to get the perfect body for his bodybuilding days. Though his profession demanded him to follow such a meat-based diet, Arnie later realized that plants could also provide a substitute for protein.

Though the actor never eliminated meat from his diet, he shifted to a predominantly vegan diet. By making conscious changes in his eating habits, Arnold has also seen significant health improvements. Following the diet for approximately five years now, he once said, “my bad cholesterol number is so low that my doctor thought I might be a different person,”

Arnold said that his ‘mostly vegan diet’ played a crucial role in lowering his bad cholesterol to a significant level. Speaking more on it, the ace bodybuilder revealed that 80% of what he had was primarily vegan. The health enthusiast mostly preferred to follow a plant-based meal with the occasional exception of steak or Austrian wiener schnitzel. His secret mantra was “making small wins.”

Having dealt with bad cholesterol for many years, even Arnold’s doctors were surprised when they saw his reports. As revealed by the legend, a vegan diet, and it reduced his bad cholesterol significantly; so much so that his doctors thought his lab work was someone else’s.
Witnessing the positives of the diet, Arnold was so impressed that he even decided to spread more awareness about it. To make people more aware of the benefits, he co-produced an educational video on the same-titled ‘The Game Changers’. The said video explored the myths that state animal and meat products are the only to build muscle mass.
