Chris Bumstead is a professional bodybuilder. The 27-years-old has won three consecutive Mr. Olympia Classic Physique titles. As a result, he has reached different highs in the last three years. Moreover, he will be aiming for the fourth in a row this year. Bumstead once opened up about the drastic shift of fan following from open bodybuilding to the classic physique.

The three-time champion has also been the runner-up in the prior two years before he became the champion. The fans had been recently shifting more of their interest to the Classic physique competitions than the open bodybuilding contests. Let’s find out Chris’ views on this.

Chris Bumstead states his views on the shifting interests

Bumstead has been growing exponentially in the last few years. He is one of the most popular current bodybuilders in the world. Similarly, the craze for Classic Physique is also growing. The three-time champion thinks people relate to the athletes competing in the Classic Physique more with their childhood heroes than the open bodybuilding athletes.

Once in an interview, Bumstead said“I think the reason they are switching down is because they have the chance to look like their childhood heroes rather than the new people on top now. Which are just absolute math monster which doesn’t appeal to such a large crowd.”

Bumstead feels the audience likes to watch leaner and muscular participants competing for more than heavy and muscular entities.

Bumstead recently revealed he will not be competing in the Men’s open division for the upcoming year. He feels that open bodybuilding is rather much riskier than the classic. In preparation for this year’s Olympia title, C-Bum is putting in hard routines and diets to make himself better to defend his title.

He has been actively invested in his growth endeavors. He is very transparent about his process of bodybuilding. Although, Bumstead has several concerns on his way to his fourth consecutive title win. However, the champion bodybuilder is finding ways to overcome the challenges and is determined to win another title.
