Former IFBB icon Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent act of social service took a downhill turn. News surfaced that the apparent pothole that he fixed was not a pothole, but a utility trench. Despite its relevancy, the depression in the middle of the road was posing a matter of concern for the citizens of his LA neighborhood. The utility work had long been finished, and it was left unattended for 3 months. This urged the athlete to go and fix it. The escapade rose to be the ‘pothole controversy’ deriving much attention from the media.

Similarly, Hollywood actor, and Schwarzenegger’s friend, Tom Arnold, also made a reference to the feat while shedding light on his demeanor as a star, in a recent interview with People. He affirmed that the bodybuilder turned film star was a true inspiration and that his 10-year-old son looks up to him.

According to the article, the 64-year-old actor admitted to an aspect of his relationship with Schwarzenegger, by saying, “Once you get over the fact he’s your friend, he’s pretty inspirational.” The duo shared the screen in James Cameron’s 1994 hit film, True Lies, and have remained close buddies ever since.

Moreover, Arnold shared that his kid, Jax, is very much fond of the actor and “has an Arnold Schwarzenegger poster” put up in his bedroom. Continuing with his appreciation, the comedian noted his star buddy as “a solid” and jokingly hinted at his recent pothole-filling feat as “He’s out filling in potholes.”

Besides, the 6’1” star also elucidated the amount of wisdom he’s gained from him working on various charity initiatives collectively. “Arnold and I do a lot of charity stuff together, which is another thing I’ve learned from him which is, you’ve got to do that stuff. You have to give back,” Arnold claimed. He confessed that these commitments have rewarded him with a lot of self-esteem and fruition. However, he wasn’t the only one who stood in support of the Austrian Oak’s pothole controversy.

Even though Schwarzenegger had his best interests in mind, he received backlash from the media and concerned authorities for his unauthorized effort. Yet, he had the support of his family. Even his daughter, Katherine, issued a statement on Twitter, explicitly taking his side on the matter

“Only way to get things done in Los Angeles. Doing it yourself,” she wrote in the post. Additionally, she shared the snippet of her father holding a shovel and a sack of Quickrete heading towards the road to fix a pothole. After facing criticism, the champion himself took to the platform to justify his actions. He asserted, “This story should be taught in a class for people who are confused about why institutional trust is in decline.”
