Recently, the 1989 Mr. Universe winner posted an inspirational post on Instagram. He received a clipping from an old French magazine covering the story of his unfortunate accident, and it made him realize just how grateful he was to be alive. He wrote in the caption, “Someone just sent me this picture – from French magazine reporting on my accident – almost 20- years ago. It brings back the memories but also awareness – how fragile life can really be!”

Sarcev also expressed how obligated he was to live his new life to the fullest. “I was super lucky 🍀 to survive and so grateful to be alive. I had my Guardian Angel looking over me 🙏🏻❤️. Count your blessings, live your life to the fullest…” he said. He also had advice for the masses, and said, “never complain…NEVER COMPLAIN (!)…and don’t just “expire”.” Sarcev was not the only one who was reminiscing about this incident.

The seven-time 212 Mr. Olympia and Welsh bodybuilder Flex Lewis also commented on the post recalling the difficult times Milos Sarcev was going through during and after his recovery. He wrote, “20yrs wow I remember everything you had to go through to just get out of hospital then what you had to do to just start back training. Hollywood might not of workout but at least your front seat at the UFC sitting next to them.” It is no doubt that Sarcev had a difficult time after the accident. But what happened to him exactly?

The horrendous explosion that gave 3rd degree burns to Sarcev

In 2004, Milos Sarcev was hired to play the character of a German caretaker in a movie. He had a scene with a stuntman in the barn. Sarcev was performing his own stunts and had to participate in an explosion. He had to jump on an air mat that would catapult him 50 feet away. His fellow stuntman had already been injured due to the air mattress in the rehearsal.

So, Sarcev had to do the explosion scene on his own. He was supposed to take four steps and then jump on the air mattress, after which the explosion would be initiated. However, as soon as he took the first step, the untimely explosion went off and Milos Sarcev got third-degree burns. He, by some instinct, did not inhale the explosion, or the same would have completely burned his lungs, and eventually die in that case.
