The champion bodybuilder encountered many injuries throughout his career, and there have been many speculations regarding the cause. However, there have been no detailed reports regarding the same. Ronnie underwent multiple surgeries, hoping to have a complete recovery from those injuries. Even though the surgeries helped him continue to compete, they had a long-term effect on his body.

Ronnie’s doctors explain the details of his surgery
Ronnie Coleman revealed in multiple interviews that he had many issues with his shoulder and hips throughout his career. Many people believed it was Ronnie’s training style that led to those injuries. However, Ronnie had a different opinion about that. In Joe Rogan’s podcast, Ronnie revealed the injuries were a combination of everything he had done over the years.

Ronnie’s surgeons revealed the detailed surgical procedure that Ronnie underwent in 2018. They conducted the surgery to remove the numerous scar tissue on Ronnie’s back. The doctors had to operate on Ronnie’s back. Describing the procedure, the surgeon said, “He did just have his intestines pulled out, screws in and out of his back, then his intestines put back.”
Ronnie shared updates regarding his workout with his fans on his Instagram account. After the surgery in February 2018, Ronnie had a smooth road to recovery. He revealed to his fans that he was recovering well after the surgery. The legendary bodybuilder shared a workout video on his account in December 2018. He was in the right spirit. However, he revealed that he had recovered but was not ready to get back to weightlifting.

Ronnie’s life post a successful bodybuilding career involved multiple surgeries that needed a long time to recover. After his back surgery in 2018, he had to be operated on again in 2019. This time it was to fix four broken screws on his back. Ronnie hoped fixing the screws one last time would cure his back problem permanently. However, this was not the case. His condition started deteriorating despite having that surgery. Ronnie had to get operated on once again.

The legendary bodybuilder returned to the operating table thrice in a single year. He revealed in an interview with Muscular Development that he had spent almost $2 million on those three surgeries. These surgeries left Ronnie’s movement restricted to a wheelchair. He could not walk on his feet. “A lot of it has to do with the way the surgeon performed the surgery and the surgeon that I’ve had the last three surgeries been really bad and caused a lot of damage to my body, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk,” he said. Ronnie felt that the surgeon was doing the surgeries, intending to make money and not improving his condition.
