The news of the action film star Bruce Willis’ untreatable brain disease struck the world like lightning. In February 2023, he was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) which compelled him to steer away from his illustrious acting career. Since then, Hollywood has joined hands to support the Willis family in every way possible. Recently, bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife, Maria Shriver, shared an article on Twitter, by another personality, whose father experienced the same condition as Wills. She added an insightful caption that might tempt one to breeze through the latter’s story.

In a publication by CNN, Mitra Salasel, director of communication of ideas24 and co-founder of Behavioral Scientist Magazine, shared her whole ordeal with FTD. She closely witnessed her father succumb to the condition and compared the situation to Bruce Willis and his family. Shockingly, she revealed there is little hope for the actor’s full recovery.

Maria Shriver encourages FTD awareness through Mitra Salasel’s insights

Per her recent tweet, the 67-year-old author wrote in her caption, “Heartbreaking, beautifully written, and highly informative.” The post surfaced on March 27, enlightening her massive fanbase with the criticality of disease. Reportedly, the article brought into light Salasel’s understanding of the consequences of FTD. Thus, she said, “I know what’s coming for Willis – and his family. It’s something I would never wish on my worst enemy.”

However, she also acknowledged the sudden increase in awareness since a major Hollywood star was diagnosed with it. Salasel claimed the world couldn’t do much to save her father, given the limited research and information on it. “With the tragic announcement of a high-profile diagnosis like Willis’, this nightmarish disease is being focused on in a way it never has been before,” Salasel admitted.

“It’s too late for Bruce Willis – and I know all too well his family has a long, unspeakably painful road ahead of them,” Mitra revealed. Nevertheless, she emphasized that it can be prevented from reaching others through the discovery of a path-breaking treatment. Hence, the Iranian personality added, “FTD is not Alzheimer’s…It can leave the memory intact for quite a while. Some say the disease steals one’s very personhood and leaves behind nothing but shells of former selves in slowly deteriorating bodies.”

The world is yet to grasp the grave scenario of the Die Hard actor’s state. With his declining condition, co-actors like Schwarzenegger and Stallone are rooting for him to keep him aloof from FTD’s perils. More such experiences as Salasel’s might aid the Willis family to be prepared for the inevitable.
