“I Am Not a Victim”- Bodybuilder Kai Greene Reacted in Utter Disappointment to His IFBB Ban in 2015

Kai Greene is one of the big names in the bodybuilding circuit. By making his professional attempt even before his 19th birthday, he became the world’s youngest professional bodybuilder. As a person of immense dedication and his thirst for becoming better has garnered him respect and love from fans across the globe.

‘The Predator’ is one of the best bodybuilders who has never won the Mr. Olympia title. He stood second in 2012, 2013, and 2014 Mr. Olympia contests. While the fans were eagerly looking forward to his participation as a top contender in 2015, he made a tearful video announcing he was banned from contesting in Mr. Olympia that year. Also, Kai opened up about his feelings about not being able to participate in the contest.

Kai Greene was majorly upset

Kai, as a troublesome teenager, was encouraged to pursue bodybuilding to help him vent his energy. The passionate bodybuilder put his heart and soul into the sport. In the 2015 video, he said that one doesn’t get this far, this point, and just stop.

“It doesn’t happen like that. I am not a victim, I’m not a… they ain’t gonna break me,” he shared emotionally. Furthermore, he said he didn’t want to speak negatively to anybody or about anything else. However, he left his fans speculating when he stated, “Let me just say that there’s more going on than… than I’m able to say.”

The following year, he won the 2016 Arnold Classic after winning the title in 2009 and 2010. Notably, he had not competed till 2016. Despite a special offer to compete in 2017, Mr. Olympia without having to re-qualify, he refused to participate. 

Speculations surrounding the ban

The then Mr. Olympia promoter said that the decision to participate has always been Kai’s. “If he REALLY wanted to compete, all he had to do was sign the contract and send it back to us, like he has done the past 6 years.”

It is also heard that Greene asked for a 20 x 20 Expo booth for free and was denied. Rumors suggest that friction occurred when he was asked to pay for it and thus escalated the situation. However, the real reason remains a mystery.
