Once Arnold described how a little incident on his set of True Lies could have cost his life. But Schwarzenegger’s stunt double came to his rescue and saved him from a bizarre incident.

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, Schwarzenegger shared a story with his fans. Also, the AMA was part of promoting children’s charity After-School All-Stars. There Arnold described his sixth day on the set and how everything went wrong. He said, “On The 6th Day, there was a scene where I hide underwater behind embryos.”

After which, he added, “I did a rehearsal with goggles, and everything went fine. But when we actually shot, I couldn’t see because the water was milky.” Arnold pointed out how his stunt double Billy Lucas became his savior. He shared, “So I ran out of air and went to the top and realized I didn’t know where to get out. I was trapped. Then a hand grabbed me and pulled me out.”

He concluded, “It was my stunt double, Billy Lucas. He’d been watching from below with a tank and goggles and realised I was in big, big trouble.” With movies like these, Arnold made his way to the hearts of his fans. He showcased his remarkable work in other movies too. However, the reason behind the success of this incredible movie is the bonding between Arnold and extraordinary director James Cameron.

Arnold and Cameron’s bonding led to big films

From time to time, Arnold received praise from critics for his role in Terminator. After his films became hits, he started getting multiple offers for leading roles in films. Meanwhile, the movie True Lies, which Cameron directed, turned out to be another big hit of Arnold’s career in 1994. However, reaching this level and completing the shooting was not easy for him.
