

Ronnie Coleman is an eight times Mr. Olympia title holder, a feat only doubled by Lee Haney. Coleman dominated for almost a decade in the bodybuilding world and won eight consecutive Olympia titles (1998-2005). However, after retiring from professional bodybuilding, Ronnie had to undergo several surgeries because of his back and hip injuries.

Even though he suffered from immense pain and physical problems, Ronnie always said that he doesn’t regret his way of working out. However, a few years back, he revealed his biggest regret during an interview backstage at Arnold Classic in 2018.

Ronnie Coleman sees underperforming as his only regret
Every professional bodybuilder of Ronnie’s time had stood in awe, at least once, looking at his enormous physique. Ronnie body was just out of this world during his peak. His opponents would just think how he brings out that kind of result in such an unorganized gym. In 2018, during the interview, Ronnie talked about the biggest regret of his life.

Ronnie said, “I was getting ready to squat 800lbs, and I had never done before in my life. But I knew I want to do two reps because I did two reps, doing the deadlift. So I got up under there, first rep was real light. I was like, wow I didn’t expect that, so I said I’m gonna go a little bit low on this second rep, maybe that’s gonna take something more out of me.”

Ronnie added, “So went a little bit low on the second rep and it was feeling like, but I had two in my mind so I wrecked it and as soon as I wrecked it, I was like oh man I could have got five and till this date, I am still regretting it because I didn’t get that five.”

Ronnie always tried to excel in his capabilities
With very little to no competition, Ronnie always tried to outclass himself. He believed in progression, improvement, and getting better every day. However, his determination to perform 100 percent per day might have caused him his injuries. After retirement, later in his life, Ronnie faced several injuries that led to more than ten surgeries on his back and hip.

It is just Ronnie’s love and dedication to bodybuilding that he still regrets underperforming and not overperforming. All in all, Ronnie’s life is full of lessons from which anyone can learn tons of positive stuff from him.
