“It Consumed Me and I Consumed It”: 25x World Record Holder Powerlifter Details Her Boxing Journey From “Parking Lot” to the Ring

25-time world record holder Dr. Stefi Cohen made a huge name for herself in the bodybuilding world. After mastering the sport, Cohen desired to challenge herself and move to boxing. Needless to say, her dedication to ace everything has made her a boxing champion, especially considering her performance in the last four matches that she fought in. However, her journey from the parking lot to the boxing ring has been a rollercoaster ride.

In a recent Instagram post, the DPT shared her boxing journey from scratch. She explained how she is always up to take on newer challenges in life and make success her habit. Let’s check out Dr.Stefi Cohen’s motivation.

Stefi Cohen walked away from her first boxing match

Stefi Cohen was the first woman in bodybuilding history to deadlift 4.4x of her body weight. Her in-depth knowledge of fitness made her a champion in the sport. After gaining massive fame as a powerlifter, she decided to “chase something new.” In her recent Instagram post, Stefi begins by talking about powerlifting, “It consumed me and I consumed it.” Reaching her saturation point as a powerlifter, Stefi chose boxing a few years ago. Since the sport was new and out of her comfort zone, she took it as a challenge.

The former powerlifter revealed that boxing tested her patience as it was full of adversities. Having a new career path, the sport threw new challenges at Stefi each day. She further revealed her training process as a boxer, “I trained for this for months. Three times per day. It became my life. It became my job. I wanted it more than anything.”

Instead of fighting a powerlifter in the boxing ring, Stefi prepared to fight an experienced woman boxer. However, destiny had a different plan for her. Just when the DPT reached the boxing ring waiting to fight, the video revealed, “At 6.25 pm Stefi was notified that her opponent did not make weight. The fight would be called off indefinitely.”

Indeed, it was disappointing for her since she had been preparing for it religiously. Stefi realized that things do not always go as planned. That day, she learned her first boxing lesson that there is always going to be another fight. She was at war with her mind at that moment. She could have completely dropped the idea of acing boxing but chose to continue practicing.

Soon, Stefi fought in four boxing matches and eventually became an impeccable boxing champion.

Throwback to Stefi Cohen’s boxing matches

In June 2021, Stefi Cohen made her boxing debut against the experienced Haydee Zapa from Colombia. It was Cohen’s first win with a 3–4–0 score. Next, she fought in August 2021 against another Columbian boxer Marcela Nieto. Interestingly, this turned out to be a draw match with a 2–0–0 score table.

Cohen bounced back in her third match against Karla Valenzuela Garcia from Mexico. The DPT won this one with a 3–25–3 score, becoming an undefeated boxing champion. However, as recently as July 2022, Stefi faced a setback as she was defeated by Devany Cuevas Torres.
