The famous bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has five kids. He shares four of his eldest kids with his ex-wife Maria Shriver. Schwarzenegger and Shriver met in 1977 and started dating, and in 1989, they welcomed their oldest child, Katherine Eunice Schwarzenegger. Katherine Schwarzenegger and her mother, Maria Shriver, have always been close to each other. So it is only logical that Shriver’s daughter would inherit some character traits from her mother.

But this one time, Shriver was surprised at how her daughter surpassed her. Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt outdid her mother in a skill she learned from her.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter surprises her mother

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt and the Hollywood actor Chris Pratt got married in 2019. Chris Pratt is famous for movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. Both husband and wife appeared on an episode of Get Organized with the Home Edit in which people de-clutter their homes.

During that episode, Schwarzenegger Pratt got a chance to label every single thing in her and Pratt’s garage. Her passion for organizing was bared for everyone to see. Seeing her daughter’s dedication to organizing, Shriver couldn’t help but comment. In a phone interview with The New York Times, Maria Shriver said, “She’s hyper-organized. I thought I was organized, and she’s labeled me out of the game.”

And isn’t that the game of life? Children learn things from their parents and go on to do them even better than their parents did. Shriver seems to be encouraging toward her daughter. In fact, she has given her daughter some invaluable advice.

Shriver’s undying support for her daughter

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt is a woman who has worked hard to make a professional career distinct from her upbringing with her famous parents. As a self-made woman herself, Maria Shriver has always encouraged this independent instinct in her daughter. She told The New York Times that she has always advised her daughter to ignore the noise of people clubbing her identity with that of her famous parents.

Shriver told The New York Times, “I tell her all the time that when I started out in the news business, everybody thought, ‘Oh my god, you’ll never survive. You’re only here because of your name.’ And 40-some years later, I’m still working, and nobody I started out with is still there, practically. The work, at the end of the day, will be what people remember.” This is sound advice, especially for someone who can be easily lost in the fame and popularity that comes with their family name.

It is true, though, that Shriver speaks from her personal experience. As someone who came from the famous Kennedy family, and then married a superstar, Shriver has struggled to have an individual identity since she was a child. And now, she is making sure that her daughter never struggles with the same thing.
