“My First Heroes”: Not Arnold Schwarzenegger, but 12-Year-Old Jay Cutler Fell in Love With These Hollywood Superstars’ Physique

Bodybuilding beast, Jay Cutler embarked on his bodybuilding journey early in his life, mostly in his early teens. Therefore, he had several athletes he looked up to as idols which he recently shared in an interview with Factz Podcast on YouTube. Initially, he perceived the legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as the ideal figure, however, soon after his notions changed. He was dazed by two iconic actors from Hollywood that were the former’s co-stars in a few of the movies. 

Cutler claimed that instead of the legend, his co-stars, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone, were his primary “heroes.” Not meaning any disrespect, he clarified that their physiques seemed attainable to him, and that’s what he wanted.

As revealed in the interview, the host “assumed” that The Austrian Oak was the 49-year-old pro’s primary inspiration in the bodybuilding domain. However, he promptly answered that it was only in the beginning, but the two famed stars were his idols. “In the beginning he was, I mean honestly, Van Damme and Stallone were my first heroes,” he shared.

The host picked on the statement asking if that was to gain inspiration for his acting career. The quad-stomp poser illuminated. “No, I thought their physiques were unbelievable in real-time.” Speaking of hit films, Rocky IV and Bloodsport, he asserted that their builds seemed achievable to him. Thus, he narrated, “How their bodies looked, I liked that because I remember I was 12, so I was looking at that as an attainable physique.”

The four-time Mr. Olympia subtly compared his frame to Arnie’s and said, “And then eventually I looked at Schwarzenegger, and I’m like, well, that’s like, he’s huge, right…Terminator…I thought he was… Now I look back, and I say, well, look at what I did…I don’t necessarily think I looked better than Arnold.” The star athlete admitted that the former’s frame was the “ultimate.” Moreover, he also stressed on legend’s “bigger” proportions in an episode of his podcast.

In January, an episode of the Cutler Cast added to the ongoing juxtaposition of star icons, Schwarzenegger and Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock. Hence, Cutler was already prepared with his insight on the matter“I hate to compare it, but like, Dwayne Johnson a couple of years ago when he was like the action guy; Arnold was bigger than that!” he remarked.

The Arnold v/s The Rock debate has long been a point of speculation since both actors rose to fame from their athletic backgrounds. Similar to Schwarzenegger’s career, wrestler, Johnson also emerged as the next big action hero in Hollywood. However, they made acquaintance in the early 2000s, and have been friends since then.

Regardless of their rapport with each other, the comparison shall exist among fans, and the film industry seized the opportunity to feature the two collectively in The Rundown, where Arnie did a surprise cameo, leaving fans in a frenzy.
