Like every sport, bodybuilding requires hard work, consistency, and persistence to succeed. No one gets into sports without the urge to win. Moreover, the urge is the fuel that keeps the athletes keep going throughout their careers. But in bodybuilding, the bodybuilders go the extra mile to achieve their goals.

And given the toughness of this sport, there have been many instances where bodybuilders have used PEDs to enhance their performances. However, an NBA legend is not in the favor of the same.

Notably, bodybuilders have used performance-enhancing drugs [PEDs] for a long time. From Arnold to Ronnie and Cutler, everyone has administered the drugs at some point in their lives. However, the big question is, is this worth it? Recently, the NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar asked a similar question.

According to Kareem, “Professional athletes are pushing the known limits of what the body can do. Each year we jump higher, run faster, reach farther. And each year, humans are inspired to try harder and achieve more.” The hunger to achieve the epitome is undeniable in sports. However, when this hunger converts into a necessity, it leads to unconventional ways of acclaiming it.

This is how the athletes try different methods to win. This necessity to see oneself on the top pushes the athlete to use PEDs. The drugs make them perform better for the moment, but the effects stay forever. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote opposing the use of PEDs in sports.

Abdul-Jabbar said, “I appreciate the hard work it takes to achieve the look they want.” However, he cleared he does not respect the use of any kind of performance-enhancing drug to achieve victory. He considers the use of such substances as cheating.

Moreover, the 6xNBA champ proposed that the government must be vigilant about the use of such hazardous drugs. He acclaims this will have multiple positive effects. First, it will keep the integrity of sports. In addition, it will also protect the health of the athletes.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar clearly put his views through his piece on ‘Official Substack of Kareem. He stood against the use of PEDs and blamed it for the increased deaths and health issues among bodybuilders and other athletes as well.
